Les Misérables 1982 (Full movie, cinema version)

Look what I found on YouTube! 😀 Now you too can see the grimiest, darkest, most depressing (and also goofy) adaptation ever! See early 19th century France apparently having the same weather as Wales! See all the grime and dirt! See all the brutality that clearly needed to be added to this story! See depressing scenes made EVEN MORE DEPRESSING. See probably the most sympathetic portrayal of Monsieur Thénardier ever!

See all the ~dramatic~ slow-mo!

See Marius and Cosette apparently standing still and staring at each other for a year without moving at 2:03:14! (Okay it’s supposed to be symbolic but it’s funny as hell.)

Okay seriously though, I know a lot of people really like this adaptation so don’t listen to me. I’m just a hater who likes to make fun of it. If you don’t mind all the grimdark stuff, you should check it out and see for yourself if you like it. It’s been called one of the most faithful adaptations (which… I guess is true but only because there are so few actually faithful adaptations around.)

And Les Amis are good! I mean, not really quite my interpretation of them but they’re fun and I like them! And there are other characters who are pretty good too. I think this one has more Azelma than any other Western adaptation I’ve seen?

Trigger warning for rape because yyyyeah that happens… x__x Also sexual assaults in general. And just general brutality. Followed by extremely silly editing and “artistic” scenes.

Sadly no subtitles, or at least I couldn’t make them work if they exist. Also this is the original shorter version. There is a longer TV version from 1985 which I haven’t even seen.
