The President of the United States said so many stupid things that there were one-a-day calendars consisting of an individual quote for each day of the year. They didn’t all have the exact same quotes.

I think my favorite was how we un-ironically referred to a whole set of countries as the “Axis of Evil” as if that phrase gives us some kind of meaningful understanding of their geopolitical role and isn’t borrowed straight out of a mediocre made-for-TV superhero movie.
And then there was:

Not only was the terror threat system real, but it was often raised and lowered based entirely on how panicked they wanted us to be. Famously they raised the level for no reason during the 2004 election.
Also, “Free Speech Zones” looked something like this:

I genuinely forget that people, even within my own age group, has forgotten the Bush era since they were teenagers and below the voting age at the time, and so forgot how fucking horrifying it was.

Bush won because a bunch of people went “eh, the Republicans and the Democrats are the same thing,” and they felt Al Gore wasn’t Democrat enough, so a bunch of would-have-been-Gore voters went and voted for Ralph Nader instead, giving Bush the lead he needed.

And then there was that whole Supreme Court decision that *actually* decided the election. The margin was only a few hundred votes in ONE STATE. Now, tell me again how your vote doesn’t matter. So your fave candidate didn’t make it? You still go out and you fucking vote because you don’t get a second chance.

Because PETA does not care about animals. they do not care that these dogs live and breathe and feel and want love like every other dog. they do not care about the history of human/dog bonding and co-evolution, they do not care that dogs and human beings have relied on each other for millennia, they do not care that its cruel and morally repugnant to put down an animal just because you can, they do not care about animals.
PETA cares about money and publicity, its a corporation run by a psychopath who is afraid of pitts as it states in the link: she was apparently bit by one, and now she hates them.
PETA doesn’t give a rats ass about animals. They just want to kill and make money off of idiots who fall of their spiel.

I often wonder about celebrities who endorse PETA. Do they not know? Has no one told them? Why would you want to be associated with an organization with such an awful and shady history?
i’ve seen a lot of pushback against “kid hating” lately, so let me just say a few things:
i don’t particularly like kids
they make me uncomfortable
the idea of being responsible for the physical and emotional well being of a child freaks me out
being pregnant is incredibly unappealing to me
i wouldn’t want to screw up my kids or scar them in any way with my shitty parenting
i don’t want to have to organize my personal/professional lifestyle and finances around my children for 21+ years
i just don’t want kids
but
i would never be mean to children
i love other people’s kids
i completely understand why other people want children
i’m fully aware that many others struggle to conceive and i would never disrespect or belittle that pain
i don’t think less of anyone for wanting kids
the idea that people who don’t want kids are inherently selfish, uncaring assholes is a lazy, misogynistic attempt to shame people (primarily women) for prioritizing personal goals and self care above parenthood. Choosing to have children doesn’t automatically make you more kind or selfless or fulfilled than people who don’t. Wanting to remain childfree is not the same as “hating kids,”nor does it mean you’re a horrible person. It’s a personal choice like everything else, so can we please stop being shitty about it?
