thecoffeetragedy:

let me tell you about the amazing potential of Cosette and Feuilly as foster siblings opening a coffee shop together

It has a large counter in a U shape, and one half of it is decidated to the coffee and the other to the tea; there are plants and dainty tea cups and feature art and crafts from local people, which Cosette and Feuilly still personally pick and they have impeccable taste

it’s all open space and large tables, there are workshop organised every week – first it’s their friends teaching whoever wants to come about skills, relaxation techniques, or discussions about what’s happening in the world, but it ends up being so popular they have an actual schedule and a website to book your place in one of these workshops

they have poetry nights, too

Cosette makes the sweetest hot chocolates and chai lattes and Feuilly’s so good with latte art

they hire pretty much anyone who needs a job, no matter what their pasts or experiences are – that’s how Marius ended up learning how to make pastries, and he’s good at it

they have a suspended coffee system that never go under a dozen suspended coffees available

because Valjean’s not getting any younger, he feels bad about not being able to do as much as before, and Cosette and Feuilly know he’s getting a bit lonely, so they 100% include him in their venture and he works there part time and he loves it and he meets people and talk to them and I’m so happy guys I just want Jean Valjean to be happy that’s the only thing that matters

Les Mis Scarves, Feuilly: Update

Misplaced my boat shuttle, so it took me a bit longer to get this started than I’d originally planned, but here’s two full pattern repeats.  (That equates to ~15 inches for this pattern.)  I’m planning 9 repeats which should get me to just shy of 6 feet.

(BTW, If any of you are of the masculine persuasion or have someone in your life who is, and can confirm that that’s an appropriate length, I’d be grateful.  ^_^  A brief search told me 60-70″ is an average length for a man’s scarf – but since I wear my own scarves closer to 108-120″…  *shrugs*  That just seems awfully short to me?  O_o;;;)

More to come as I make progress!  ^_^

Little update… the scarf is done!
I’ve just finished washing it, so I’ll post better pictures once it’s done blocking/drying, but in the meantime…  have a preview?

Enjolras and Feuilly <3

Send me ships

Yessssssssssss.  ^____________^  OK, so we’ve discussed this many times before but Enjolras/Feuilly is definitely a ‘10′ ship for me (maybe an ‘11′ by now?  XD).  ^_^  They’re just too adorable because they respect and admire each other SO MUCH and can you imagine how good they’d be for each other?  I mean, they both suck at self-care because they get too wrapped up in their causes, but they’d be SO GOOD at taking care of each other.  *_*

But it took them a long time to get there.

They have such a slow courtship.  Seriously.  SO. SLOW.

When they first met, Feuilly was very closed off emotionally.  He was passionate, sure, but he didn’t open up about himself much.  He was quick to take up a cause, but slow to let anyone else in.  He’d lost too much in his life and he’d been hurt too often and it had turned him shy of making new friendships.  And he’d been so focused on getting out and doing better for himself that romance just never seemed to be in the cards.

Enjolras, OTOH, was an open book… he’d just never really thought about dating much.
There were always other things
which took precedence – school, friends, injustice.  Who had time for
romance, right?

If pressed he’d have
said that he was asexual and aromantic, since a history of a lack of interest must mean something, right?

But when he meets Feuilly, they just *click*.

Pfft.  No, they don’t.

(More behind the cut because this is getting long and turning into a mini-fic, good grief. O_o;;;)

When Enjolras and Feuilly first meet, they admire each other from a distance.  Feuilly respects Enjolras, looks up to him as a leader and upperclassman, but he’s learned that someone who looks that good from a distance hardly ever is from close up.  So, he’s afraid to get too close, even if he can’t deny that there’s something compelling about Enjolras, especially when he’s all riled up from speechmaking.

As for Enjolras, he’s absolutely floored by Feuilly’s passion and his willingness to do whatever it takes to help out, no matter how much else he has on his plate.  But every time he tries to talk to him, he ends up tripping over his tongue in the worst possible ways.  (Seriously, it’s SO PAINFULLY AWKWARD – think Shang in Mulan “…you fight good.” level of awkward.  SO. AWKWARD.)  Every bit of his eloquence deserts him.

What Enjolras doesn’t know, however, is that every single time he trips over himself trying to talk to Feuilly… Feuilly gets that much more comfortable around him.  Because, hey look, he’s not perfect.  He messes up.  He blushes.  One time he even squeaked, he was so embarrassed.  (Combeferre heard about that one in great detail later.  From both of them.  And both had their faces buried in their hands when they relayed the story, and related it in equally high pitched tones… just for entirely different reasons.  He found it hilarious.)

It takes them over a year before they can manage a full conversation that consists of more than “Hello!” and “Great speech!” and “OK, bye!”  But once that ice is broken, it is BROKEN.  They find that they more interests in common than they ever would have guessed.  They eventually start staying after meetings for hours, often closing out the bar in their zeal for conversation.  Two years after their first meeting, they’re as comfortable with each other as it’s possible for two people to be with each other.  They’re each other’s first phone call when they’re in trouble, or when they have good news, or when they’re upset… or when they wake up in the morning.

And Enjolras, who never had time or interest in romance or sex, and Feuilly who was too angry and bitter to even contemplate it… find their opinions changing.  Glances linger just a little longer.  Touches become a little more intimate.  Smiles soften just a hair.  And five years after their first meeting when people start assuming that they’re dating… they simply smile and don’t bother to correct them.

Feuilly gets really bad headaches, and at one point he figures out that it’s because he’s been reading a lot in low light and work is hard on his eyes, so he finally goes to the eye doctor even though he really doesn’t want to and he’s so nervous about it (he’s never been ever? this is going to be a disaster…) and he ends up with reading glasses he should wear when working and in the evening and Bahorel think he’s so cute with them and Feuilly’s a lil embarrassed but Bahorel can’t stop staring

broccoliofthebarricades:

That’s so cute! He would accidentally go full on hipster with his glasses and Bahorel will forever tease him about that!

“Look. If anyone wants to send some poor, art blocked soul some little…”

More Feuilly? I love your art with him 🙂

I don’t know about you, but I think Feuilly’s lean could give Bossuet a run for his money!

For the headcanon meme — I can’t decide between Feuilly and Courfeyrac so how about both? ^_^

thecoffeetragedy:

😀 my children. I’m going to make this five each because I’m so tired sorry ahh.

Courfeyrac:

  • A lot of people are surprised when they hear this – although no one who really knows him – but Courf is really really good with languages. He doesn’t study them like Prouvaire or Marius do and he’s not perfectly fluent, but he speaks at least half a dozen European languages.
  • He says it’s because his family travelled a lot when he was younger and he picked them up like a sponge. It’s really super impressive.
  • But like, his friends aren’t surprised because they know how incredibly smart he is! Enjolras especially is always telling him how brilliant Courfeyrac is. And Courfeyrac is always flattered and happy about it, because he never thought ‘intelligent’ was one of the things people thought about him (it is – but he doesn’t think it’s how he comes across as.)
  • He can’t eat fish or other sea food. It makes him sick every single time.
  • Speaking of making him sick: has a rocky relationship with his parents, but nothing compared to the pure venom between him and his older brother. Courfeyrac isn’t bad-tempered, but he isn’t a calm and collected person either. His brother, though, can make him absolutely explode in rage in five seconds top. He’s just so smug and snob and arrogant and terrible. (Combeferre’s his only friend who has met Courfeyrac’s brother. If anyone expected him to say Courfeyrac’s exaggerating, they would be dissapointed. Combeferre despises him too after meeting him only once.)

Feuilly:

  • He is really really good with hair! Like, at the orphanage one of the ladies who took care of the kids used to have him do her hair for her; in exchange she brought him pastries whenever she happened to go out to a bakery.
  • His own hair is always a mess because he just doesn’t bother and only cuts it when it’s getting so long it gets into his eyes when he works.
  • Even then. It’s happened that he’s had to borrow one of his fellow fan painters’ hairpin to pin it back because he hadn’t realised it was so long and it can’t cut it right now but it’s so annoying…
  • He gets massive headaches/migraines. Like, they get really really bad. Exhaustion, not always eating very well, too much reading in low light, eyestrain from work, stress – reasons depends on how he’s doing at that time, but he doesn’t remember a time when he didn’t have them. He’s forced himself to work through most of of the pain but honestly sometimes it’s just impossible.
  • Speaks/read only French, but has excellent handwriting (of course)

AAAAAH.  I LOVE THESE.  😀  I now have an image of bb!Feuilly with his tongue sticking out between his teeth and concentrating Very Hard while doing the lady’s hair and I WILL CARRY THAT IMAGE WITH ME ALWAYS BECAUSE TOO PRECIOUS FOR WORDS.  XD  *squeaks*

AND COURFEYRAC.  Aaaaaaaaaah~~~!!  Courfeyrac, whose friends think he’s smart and he just doesn’t see it IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TROPES WITH HIM.  And I hate his brother already, TOO.  *grrrrr*

Thank you!!  I love them!  😀

you know the headcanon where Bossuet and Feuilly have a lifehack youtube channel?

I have a better idea: they have a a lifehack testing youtube channel (with scientific and ‘scientific’ explanations from Joly)

Courfeyrac worries he isn’t enough for Feuilly. Feuilly worries he isn’t doing enough.

Together, they work things out.

I’m writing this for Les Mis Rare Pairs Week because apparently that’s the kick in the pants I needed to actually write something the ship I’ve loved for months and months. It’s going to be 3 chapters but since it’s looking like I won’t finish it before the week is over, I figured I should at least post the first one today. Enjoy–and sorry about the angst, i swear it actually gets resolved in this one!
