Qui-Gon is used to monopolizing Obi-Wan’s attention; after all, they were inseparable as Initiates. But after Qui-Gon becomes Master Dooku’s apprentice, the time they have together is limited. When Anakin Skywalker comes to the Temple and joins the Initiates at age nine, he latches on to Obi-Wan, the only person he knows his age. Qui-Gon is not prepared for the bond that has grown between them while he was away.
